Student Progress Database Application

Hi Scott,

Hope you had a great vacation. I definitely need some help on this application. I was away myself for a couple of weeks but now I'm back. Since the time I came back I worked on the application and tried to understand why its not working as it should. I downloaded a fresh copy of it from your OneDrive. If you look at the second Sub form, the StudentProgress, immediately after you choose a Center from the drop down, you find names of students repeated 8 times instead of just 4. I dont know where to begin to correct this. Plus, there is really no point in having Combo boxes on the sub form when that feature is not usable and the user is not allowed to select anything other than enter marks of the student.

Please give me a start on how I should go about solving this problem?

First, I don't mind helping you, but you need to do some of this on your own. I checked, the copy I have and The Progress subform is being sorted on StudentID., All you needed to do is add CourseID to the OrderBy property.

You need to start exploring the properties of the objects. This is how things are done in Access. Everything is an object and you get things done by manipulating the properties of the objects, either manually or programmatically. So an understanding of what properties you can change is essential.

Were you able to create the combobox for the dates? You should have been able to.

Hmm that's strange since the sort order was working when I last looked. It may have to wait until I return from vacation before I can look at it.

As far as using a Combo to select the month, you should be able to do that. I would create a table for each period. Like I said, the period should include the year as well. Will there be a core for every calendar month? if not, all the more reason to use a table.
