Why is Excel 2016 for Mac so bad?

I'm wondering what people think - Excel 2016 for Mac seems to be so bad that it must be intentional. Am I wrong? Is Microsoft still waging a low-grade war on Mac users by making their products subtly awful on a Mac? Is it just that they have really bad developers? Is it that the developers are good but the management somehow makes them do terrible work? Is it that whoever is in charge of designing Excel for Mac has an ex who uses it for his/her job and this person has devoted his/her life to making his/her ex's life bad in confusing ways? Has a nefarious actor infiltrated Microsoft in order to make their products just bad enough that companies will continue to use them but their awfulness will create a small long-term drag on the US economy? Answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Has someone from Microsoft ever answered to this thread? It's excessively long and incredibly valid.

    I have had nothing but bad experiences with Microsoft Office for Mac and in particular Microsoft Outlook. It's like I'm using a beta trial version of software that my company has paid full licenses for. 

    I've made recommendations to consider substantially moving away from continuing to pay for a very under-serviced and supported suite of software when there is competition now.

    Are there plans to try and address any of these concerns?

    You can't apologize for this rich company.  ALL other third party apps on my mac work flawlessly. What MS's excuse again?  Arrogance?  Don't ship have baked ****.

    If you are stuck with a machine that will not run Mohave (High Sierra only) then this is accademic.  High Sierra will run 32 bit software so you can stay with 2011 and not bother with later versions.  That’s what i’m doing.

    When High Sierra is no longer supported then I will make a decision then - probably move over to a Linux based machine and say goodbye to BOTH Microsoft and Apple.
