Why is Excel 2016 for Mac so bad?

I'm wondering what people think - Excel 2016 for Mac seems to be so bad that it must be intentional. Am I wrong? Is Microsoft still waging a low-grade war on Mac users by making their products subtly awful on a Mac? Is it just that they have really bad developers? Is it that the developers are good but the management somehow makes them do terrible work? Is it that whoever is in charge of designing Excel for Mac has an ex who uses it for his/her job and this person has devoted his/her life to making his/her ex's life bad in confusing ways? Has a nefarious actor infiltrated Microsoft in order to make their products just bad enough that companies will continue to use them but their awfulness will create a small long-term drag on the US economy? Answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

2019-03-04T20:46:23+00:00 The problem is Excel 2016, not your aged Mac. To be fair, MS does seem to have improved Excel. But thus iteslf is the issue: the MS business model is to sell software that is permanently beta.

2019-03-04T19:51:02+00:00 ok! I have an old imac mid 2010, with exel 2016, that is not working well. I though the problem was on imac, but basing in what you said, even if I buy a new one, it still will have the same problem?

If you find you are having a crash in Excel, please post a question to the appropriate Excel forum. Crashes with Excel 2016 and 2019 are now extremely rare. Include the version you have (Excel > About Excel) the version of Mac OS that you have, along with any steps you take that result in a crash. We can address your specific issue.
