Drag and Drop not working Office 365 - Word

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your efforts toward fixing the issue.

Let us try creating new Windows User account and check if drag and drop works there as expected. This is to verify whether issue is related with Windows User account. This issue may occur if Windows User account is corrupted.

To create it perform the steps mentioned below.

• Press Windows keyand select Control Panel.
• Click on User accounts and Family Safety.
• Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts.
• Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions.
• Sign out from the current User account and log-in using new User account .  Check if issue persist.

I tried a new user account and the same problem occurs; drag and drop not working.  it doesn't work in any of the Office programs (Outlook won't let me drag/move emails or words within an email).  Everything is copy and paste.

However, in the process of adding another user account, I somehow deleted my main user account.  I re-created my main user account and got my files back.  But, my files that were on my desktop are gone! 

Is there any way I can get two very important folders restored that were on my desktop???  So much time went into those documents, and now their gone!

When I created the user and tried the drag and drop that didn't work, somehow my original user disappeared.  When I added it back, I had to restore everything, including all my Word, Excel, etc, customization.  Boy what a waste of time.  I don't mind restoring all that again, but I really need help restoring those two very important folders that were on my desktop before I created the new user account.  Can you help me restore those two folders first before we continue figuring out how to fix drag and drop problem?

I was able to restore those desktop files.

I'm ready to try the next Drag and Drop fix.

BTW, I had this same problem in MS Word Office 365. Turns out I left the Mark Index Entry box open. When I closed it, I was able to drag and drop again. Now..

1. This might be a bug, or it is possible by design. I would think it's more of a bug.
2. My solution probably would not help poor SteveB8488 :(

The Mark Index Entry dialog box is a modeless dialog box, just like the Find and Replace dialog. It appears that modeless dialog boxes in general do not support drag and drop in Word. I'd call that a limitation rather than a bug. However, it is worth posting feedback to Microsoft on this in the Uservoice forum at http://word.uservoice.com.
