I notice a rather annoying problem with Excel 2016 - when scrolling using either a trackpad or mousewheel, the scrolling is not at all smooth. Instead, the scrolling is very jumpy. By jumpy, I don't mean that the scroll will go from point A to point B in a snap rather than a smooth motion. Rather, when initiating a scroll, the spreadsheet will sort of vibrate and bounce rapidly back and forth before the scrolling commence. The problem is particularly obvious when scrolling horizontally, and it sometimes won't scroll at all, no matter how many times I try. In such instances, the only way to move around the spreadsheet is either the arrow key or by clicking on the scroll bar. Sometimes initiating a scroll would cause a beachball to appear for a sec or two, and I'm on a Quad core 2012 Retina Macbook Pro. This is a persistent problem and has not be fixed in the last Excel update. This is also not a machine dependent problem, because I experience the same scrolling problem on my 13" Retina Macbook Pro as well. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm with you, Mark. It's a nightmare to use Excel 2016 Mac. Often when I'm typing, it shows in the formula bar but not in the cell. Long text strings in cells display weird and often not at all. Scrolling is crazy and screen flashes make it look like Excel is having a seizure. Lots of usability issues that still need to be worked out. I often close and reopen it. I've often lost work too. Hopefully, they are working hard on making this better. :D

Take your point, but for me, like the above post from Michael, Excel 2016 is totally un-useable. Freezing/locking, delays in cell selection, scrolling just a nightmare, problems in selecting text directly within a cell for editing.
Your problem sounds like it isn't as bad as mine. Sorry my suggestion didn't help.

Unfortunately that doesn't help much when you're dealing with spreadsheets of any substantial size, which 2011 completely pukes on mac, and one of the big reasons I switched to 2016.
2016 has been a godsent in so many other categories, it's just especially frustrating these few little issues haven't been fixed.
Excel 2016 is a disaster. Jumping all over the place, loses the cursor between pages of a sheet so when I click on a cell, a cell 4-1/2 rows away gets selected. It selects cells that don't exist in between cells on rows. . . Unusable. Need that update stat!

You can get 2011 on Office 365 subs until Sept 2016. Leave 2016 on your machine & run 2011. Just choose 2011 as the default excel app.
