Cannot open downloaded Word documents after Windows 10

Hello,

I cannot open downloaded Word documents (powerpoint included) that I download onto my computer from email or my online class. This happened after I downloaded Windows 10. My spyware is turned off and it does not change anything. Any tips if there is something else turned on I can't figure out to open them? I tried going through word and in a "repair" view but it still wouldn't open.

    It may be better to ask about that in the Windows forum.  You should however give a bit more detail -  With what name are you logged in?  After you log-out what happens?, etc.

    What about the opening menu which if I try to use it takes me out...states error an asks me to sign in again - longstanding problem

    That seems to be working - so far! THANK you!

    What about the opening menu problem?? Any solutions there? It just crashs whenever I click on it??
