Cannot open downloaded Word documents after Windows 10

Hello,

I cannot open downloaded Word documents (powerpoint included) that I download onto my computer from email or my online class. This happened after I downloaded Windows 10. My spyware is turned off and it does not change anything. Any tips if there is something else turned on I can't figure out to open them? I tried going through word and in a "repair" view but it still wouldn't open.

    I did not knowingly and willingly click on such.  You lack expertise and information to the contrary.  I do have a some type of tracking pad on the computer that regularly causes my cursor to jump all over the place.  My consultant says that others have complained about his too.  Your opinion is rejected as unfounded.

    If third-party (non-Microsoft) document assembly software isn't working properly with Windows 10, it is up to the manufacturer of that software to fix the problem.

    There is no way that "MS surreptitiously and nonconsensually initiated updating" of your PC to Windows 10.

    You would have had to have responded to the following message for the update to have been installed:

    NONE of the foregoing has been of appreciable help.  I have two problems presumably caused by MS's install of Windows 10 into my PC, a nuisance one in my PC and a fatal one in my Mac.

    I just today 5 hours ago became aware of a glitch using document-assembly Word forms in my Windows 10 machine and in working with them in my Mac.  I have been working on the problem for 3 hours continuously with the help of my consultant at Computer Guys Services and with technical support at the forms vendor American LegalNetwhose document-generating software is called Forms WorkFlow http://www..

    A.L.N. technical support had me uncheck all "Trust" restrictions and, later, I allowed all macros.  Still, I get the arbitrary "Protected View" error message when opening a file in my PC and, even after enabling editing and resaving the files, I could not open any in my Mac.

    Unless you promptly provide a fix, I'll deem the cause to be defect in Windows 10 and revert back to reliability using Windows 7 after incurring enormous cost.

    I have Word 2010 in my Windows 10 machine.  Windows is fully updated.  Word appears to be fully updated.  I have Word 2011 in my OS X 10.9.5 machine and both Word and my OS are fully updated.  On 4/10/2016 MS surreptitiously and nonconsensually initiated updating of my PC to Windows 10.

    My consultant is of the belief that Windows 10 is not to blame.  Perhaps the problem is the "Security Update for Microsoft Word 2010 (KB3114993) 32-Bit Edition" on 4/13/2016.  However, this forum provides good cause to blame Windows 10.

    I am unwilling to gamble on updating Word in my two computers.  A guarantee would be required before I attempt that.
