Dear All,

I need help from you.

I cannot use Styles in Word 2016 properly, the problem is:

I want to use "Body Text", "Heading", "List Bullet", "List Number". When I click on "Body Text" but it jump to "TOC", it is not exactly "Body Text".

When I click on "Heading 1" it jump to "Heading 2" and next click jump to "Heading 3" and so on.

In previous version I always use these Styles but not faced these Problem.

After I change to this version I facing with this problem.

I use Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016.

Hi everyone!

The Office 2016 December update introduced an issue where the wrong style would get applied if you tried to select a style in the Styles pane.

That issue has been fixed in update 6366.2056, which is rolling out now to Office 365 consumer/small business subscribers. If you don't see the update yet, follow these steps:

  1. Open any Office application and choose File > Account. (If you're using Outlook, choose File > Office Account.)
  2. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.

If you're still experiencing issues in 6366.2056, please let us know (best to start a new thread).

Thanks for your patience.

Whatta pain ......it's a good workaround but too much trouble ......Just use Ctrl+Shift+S until they get the issues fixed.

Not putting your workaround down .....it's just too much trouble, and then you have to back out it .......All these steps give me a pain in the neck .....;-) .....Microsoft gitter fixed !!!

Hold down Ctrl+Shift+S ....it opens Apply Styles window. It's the only effective short workaround until the bug/issues are fixed.

You can also roll back to MS Word 2013 ....but that's a pain if you're using Word 2016. You have to uninstall it, install Word 2013 use it until the update fix is pushed out from MS ....then uninstall 2013 and reinstall Word 2016......ugghhh!

    Hi Richard301PC1,

I want to thank you for this work around. I'll let you know how it goes.

You are right, I don't want to go back to 2013. One never knows, if we go back, who knows if we encounter a problem. I am believing that MS is hard at work looking for a fix. Thanks again.

    Hi Yangxiong,

That was thoughtful of you to make screenshots of the problem. I didn't, but what you showed is exactly what I experienced. I hope you saw Richard301PC1's workaround. It is here. Read this reply

Believe a fix is coming soon.
