Dear All,

I need help from you.

I cannot use Styles in Word 2016 properly, the problem is:

I want to use "Body Text", "Heading", "List Bullet", "List Number". When I click on "Body Text" but it jump to "TOC", it is not exactly "Body Text".

When I click on "Heading 1" it jump to "Heading 2" and next click jump to "Heading 3" and so on.

In previous version I always use these Styles but not faced these Problem.

After I change to this version I facing with this problem.

I use Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016.

Hi everyone!

The Office 2016 December update introduced an issue where the wrong style would get applied if you tried to select a style in the Styles pane.

That issue has been fixed in update 6366.2056, which is rolling out now to Office 365 consumer/small business subscribers. If you don't see the update yet, follow these steps:

  1. Open any Office application and choose File > Account. (If you're using Outlook, choose File > Office Account.)
  2. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.

If you're still experiencing issues in 6366.2056, please let us know (best to start a new thread).

Thanks for your patience.

    Hi Doug,

Sorry for the delay in responding to you. Due to confidentiality reasons, I cannot send copies of any of the documents that exhibit the problem. However, I'll try to work up a dummy document that uses the template and exhibits the problem, and I'll send that to you sometime in the next few days.

    Thanks!

    Hi Doug,

I just saw your suggestion. I am prepared to send you the template I used to create the document. I am not prepared to send the document because of intellectual property rights. I will make another document, and I should get the same results. If my prediction holds, I'll send you that document.

Thanks for looking into the issue.

    Blessings.

Thanks Richard301PC. Yes, everything you stated, I have experienced in one way or another. We have to conclude that Word 2016 is problematic, and we need to come up with a work around of some kind otherwise we would make no progress. Thanks again for the suggestions and confirmation that we have a problem, Scottie.

Dude, ..........MS Office 365, Word 2016 .........All documents, templates etc. are affected ......I updated Office 365 and on 1/16/2016 a Windows 10 update was pushed out as well.

With the Styles pane Docked it seemed to work, but then had a problem applying a Style it became locked on that Style, went out >came back in> the problem didn't repeat itself.

The best workaround was to use Ctrl/Shift/S....with the Apply Styles pane floating/undocked.

There is also still an issue when accessing a previous document it opens as a "Read-Only" file, have to rename and re-save it to access the same document. That issue is still happening at random. I haven't traced it down to what documents it affects yet, just random when trying open and edit a previously edited document.
