Styles in word 2016 not working properly

Dear All,

I need help from you.

I cannot use Styles in Word 2016 properly, the problem is:

I want to use "Body Text", "Heading", "List Bullet", "List Number". When I click on "Body Text" but it jump to "TOC", it is not exactly "Body Text".

When I click on "Heading 1" it jump to "Heading 2" and next click jump to "Heading 3" and so on.

In previous version I always use these Styles but not faced these Problem.

After I change to this version I facing with this problem.

I use Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016.

Hi everyone!

The Office 2016 December update introduced an issue where the wrong style would get applied if you tried to select a style in the Styles pane.

That issue has been fixed in update 6366.2056, which is rolling out now to Office 365 consumer/small business subscribers. If you don't see the update yet, follow these steps:

  1. Open any Office application and choose File > Account. (If you're using Outlook, choose File > Office Account.)
  2. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.

    Note that if you apply a style to a bibliography entry, it will most likely be lost the next time you update the bibliography. (Having said that, of course Word shouldn't freeze when creating the style.)

    Follow-up: I have just discovered another glitch related to styles in Word 2016. I formatted a bibliography entry and then attempted to create a new style based on the current paragraph using the Create a Style dialog. When I tried to type the new name in the dialog, Word became unresponsive. I saved, closed Word, and reopened and tried again... several times. I was finally able to get my new style. Bizarre! And very inconvenient as I am revising my existing online lessons on Word to include Word 2016. It would be nice to know if these glitches will be fixed soon or if I need to include warnings and directions on how to handle such problems. New users will just give up!

    I checked "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" before creating this document. It's only five pages long but it has two (large) images embedded therein. It's about 77.5 MB in length. I also noticed it was forgetting the normal style indents. So no, hardware graphics acceleration is not a factor here.

    But Microsoft has acknowledged that a bug exists in Word 2016. I have selected text, and apply the style I need, and it worked. I try it again, and it didn't work. For it to work again, I had to close the file, and then open it. I have been using styles since 2010, and never had any issues until now.
