Exchange account set-up missing for Outlook 2016

I recently upgraded to Office 2016 Preview from Office 2013.  I had several POP / IMAP and Exchange accounts that all worked fine prior to the upgrade.  After the upgrade the POP / IMAP accounts work fine but non of the Exchange accounts work.  I got the following message "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service" Ok, so deleted the account and tried to set it up again however, under "Add Account" there is no longer an option to set up an Exchange account. There are only two options: 1) Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service or 2) POP or IMAP. The Microsoft Exchange Server or compatible service option is missing?

    As for me, I've lost hope that Outlook 2016 will properly support manual configuration of Exchange accounts without autodiscover in place. In the meantime, I've switched to the Windows 10 default email and calendar apps that are not half bad and -get this!- do properly support manual configuration of exchange accounts without a hitch.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006"><Response><Error Id="830228321" Time="11:36:51.1680619"><ErrorCode>600</ErrorCode><Message>Invalid Request</Message><DebugData/></Error></Response></Autodiscover>

    Why should end users have to enter programming code to get applications to work right? Doesn't our subscription to Office 365 (formerly purchase price of a license) pay for that kind of engineering?

    You can open a browser and enter the URL https://cas_server_name/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and see if you get any XML response but the easiest way is to try what I've suggested and see if it works. If not it's either been locked down by the administrator or it's not running/configured.

    You need to query the CAS (client access server) not the mailbox server but that's the server that would have been configured in your old Outlook 2013 profile.
