Exchange account set-up missing for Outlook 2016

I recently upgraded to Office 2016 Preview from Office 2013.  I had several POP / IMAP and Exchange accounts that all worked fine prior to the upgrade.  After the upgrade the POP / IMAP accounts work fine but non of the Exchange accounts work.  I got the following message "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service" Ok, so deleted the account and tried to set it up again however, under "Add Account" there is no longer an option to set up an Exchange account. There are only two options: 1) Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service or 2) POP or IMAP. The Microsoft Exchange Server or compatible service option is missing?

According to Outlook Connectivity with MAPI over HTTP, Office365 should have MAPI over HTTP enabled as of a year ago.  So that doesn't appear to explain my issue with connecting.

Hi.  Checked with Rackspace -- MAPI over HTTP is indeed on their radar, but not implemented.  They are aware it's required for Outlook 2016..

Who knows, perhaps MS will decide to put back RPC support for legacy hosts before the RTM.

    Take care! /jim

Yeah, autodiscover should work with Rackspace or any of the other 'big guys'. My best wild guess is that they don't have MAPI over HTTP enabled and Outlook 2016 looks for it. If it picked up the old profile, it might use RPC over HTTP. That is just a wild guess as to what the problem could be.

Hi Diane, my Exchange provider (Rackspace, a major "Microsoft Partner") has had autodiscover available for years now..  but when I performed a clean install of Outlook 2016 Preview the autodiscover did not work.

I had to install Outlook 2013, setup email (using autodiscover!) and then upgrade to 2016.

    ???

    Thanks/jim
