I recently upgraded to Office 2016 Preview from Office 2013. I had several POP / IMAP and Exchange accounts that all worked fine prior to the upgrade. After the upgrade the POP / IMAP accounts work fine but non of the Exchange accounts work. I got the following message "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service" Ok, so deleted the account and tried to set it up again however, under "Add Account" there is no longer an option to set up an Exchange account. There are only two options: 1) Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service or 2) POP or IMAP. The Microsoft Exchange Server or compatible service option is missing?

Ok all, curbball time! Oddly I setup my work e-mail that is an Exchange account via POP/SMTP on Outlook 2016. How? I've the foggiest idea but as long as I can get my work e-mail I'm good. I'm wondering why Microsoft has made setting up Exchange accounts more difficult myself though. Hope this is beneficial to someone.
Sadly for you DivakarBal I'm glad to have someone else chime in - presumably with a different ISP hosting your exchange account.
Rackspace has acknowledged that it does not yet have MAPI over HTTP enabled, but that reg tweak to turn off this "protocol" did not solve my problem..
Perhaps our friends at MS will decide to back out of removal of RPC over HTTP, or otherwise determine why autodiscover doesn't work for us :)

As admin I have logged in with my Microsoft account and Windows Build 10240 universal Mail app connects seamlessly to my exchange server.
Same account Outlook 2016 has difficulties as already stated above by numerous posters on autodiscover function even though this is enabled.
Solution was to create another account with my local login (not the Microsoft login) and then connect to Outlook 2016.
Worked but if I have to use Outlook 2016 then I need to go to subordinate account. Outlook 2016 will still not connect to my main account...

Autodiscover is a feature used with Exchange. It doesn't apply to POP or IMAP accounts.
It's working now. Not exactly sure what did it. But a couple things happened today. First, I tried installing on a Win8.1 PC and an older build of Win10 on a VM and both worked. Still didn't work on my laptop. Just installed the latest build of Win10 on the laptop and it wasn't working, deleted my profile, started Outlook and created a new profile and now everything is working. Office 365 also went down around this same time apparently due to some updates that cause the servers to have issues. Not sure if those changes on Office 365 had anything to do with it. But at the moment, this is no longer an issue for me.
