Pinned Items in Office 2016 not sorted alphabetically

The pinned list is different from a most-recently-used list.  It is for permanent (hence the word "pinned"!) listings.  By definition they are all used routinely, so sorting them alphabetically is the only way to find the one you want quickly.  What follows after the pinned list is the MRU list.  The combination of the two lists worked well before 2016; now the pinned list is not nearly as useful.  I say go back to alphabetical order, and you don't even need a user config. switch.  The new way is simply bad.

My recently retired PC with Windows 7 and Office 2013 would let me organize the pinned documents as I saw fit. With that option I could quickly find the document I needed because I organized them in groups. Now (win 10/Office2016) I must search and rememebr the filename each time, and it is very annoying and time consuming compared to the way it was.

Why not have the user choose whether to have it sorted by name, date or manually?

I agree they should be alphabetical

They should not be sorted at all, that is something suited for the Most Recent Used list, not the pinned documents list.

Who did you ask for feeback before you decided to change the ordering in the first place.

I'm moving fom office 2010 to 2016/365/click to run and dealing with a number of such changes and feature that have been taken away.....

So disappointing to see that this is STILL an issue.   I just got upgraded to Office 2016 a month ago.   And all is fine with the new features except the pinned items is driving me crazy , I have about 10 frequently used files and it just makes perfect sense they stay in the same order.   I was positive I was missing a custom setting somewhere.  So then starting searching and found this post in the community.   Blows my mind that this is not an option.   This original post is now 2 years old.  Come on Microsoft
