Pinned Items in Office 2016 not sorted alphabetically

In Office 2016, recent items are sorted according to date and time and not alphabetically.

Retrograde step if you ask me.  I keep about 20 items pinned for regular use.  Having to scan the list non-alphabetically each time reduces my productivity.

I agree with Greg1126.  I keep 25 files in the pinned list.  Having them re-sorted each time they are opened is VERY inefficient!  Why did you ever make such a stupid change?  MS always talks about increasing productivity - this change (of re-sorting the pinned list based upon usage date/time) causes me to be VERY unproductive!

If you (MS) were going to "improve" the tool this way you really should have adhered to "traditional" standards and made this a user controllable option to allow people who need alpha sort to be able to turn it on.  This is actually the first mention I've seen of this "improvement".  It alone is enough to make me serious reject switching to this version.

I haven't bothered trying 2016, simply because I didn't have enough empty space on my HD for it.

Yes, I can see where for some people "last used" is useful.  But in my case, in Word I currently have 40 documents pinned.  They sort into my required order because I have added prefixes to force the alphabetical sort to work for me.  Switching to last used order will totally disorder my orderly process making my work harder.  I am very disappointed.

This forum is one place to make suggestions like this. MS has also created some "suggestion box" sites for user ideas for the next version.  I'll be making a note of this issue in the Word area. The more people who make the suggestion, the more likely there will be a future fix.

MS has finally added web sites to allow users to make suggestions similar to the “smiley”/”sad” face buttons you may have seen in the pubic beta versions of Office.

NOTE: when you post comments / suggestions it is best to limit each submission to one issue. That way replies can be specific to that error. And it makes it easier for MS to assign a submission to a specific development group or person.

PS I suspect there are more, but there is no single “master” page that shows all of the sites, and not even adequate cross links between the sites. I actually found several just by changing the app name.

Some of these sites have options for the various versions of each application, ie Desktop vs Oneline vs Android vs Mac etc.

I was looking for some indication that Microsoft actually sanctions the Uservoice website.  It's here:

Performing a who-is on Uservoice shows that it's administered by CloudFlare.  Wikipedia's description of Cloudflare does not mention Microsoft, so apparently Microsoft contracted Cloudfare to handle all the incoming feedback.

My Avast! antivirus has a problem with uservoice.com, and blocks it.  It complains about an "invalid certificate" if my browser even thinks about going to uservoice.  I've seen my computer complain about certificates before, but this is the first time it has totally blocked a domain due to certificate issues.

So, uservoice is sanctioned by windowscentral.com.  Interestingly, performing a who-is on windowscentral.com shows they're administered by Incapsula Inc in Dover Delaware, again an organization that is not Microsoft.

But I guess we accept that WindowsCentral really is connected to Microsoft, somehow, and that if WindowsCentral gets user feedback from Uservoice, then Microsoft will probably see it...

Personally, I have always followed the advice of my installed security software, instead of circumventing it.  So I am presently unable to go to Uservoice.
