How to reduce the size of quick access toolbar icons? (Office 2016)

With the update to Office 2016 the Quick Access Toolbar icons were enlarged.

I used to have a filled Quick Access toolbar for Excel and now they do not fit defeating the purpose.

Is there any way to reduce the size of Quick Access Toolbar items?

Folks, our shared UX controls team have been following this thread, as well as your requests on UserVoice and are spinning up some work to address your concerns. I can't promise a specific date for getting this work out to you all, but they recognize the impact this has had on those of you who work with customized QAT and are moving very quickly.

When they're done you'll see the improvement arrive as part of the regular updates we send all subscription customers.

Thanks again for the clear feedback, both here and on UserVoice - keep it coming!

Cheers...pc

a certain "SheilaMart****" told me how it works: click on the down arrow on the QAR and activate "touch/mouse mode". then fix the space problem by clicking on the newly added symbol on QAR.

    Thanks Sheila!

LOL I can't believe it took 2 weeks and 12 pages of complaints for people to figure out their "touch mode" was activated. This is 2013 stuff!! XDDD

Anyway, I came here to see if there's any way one can add a spacer or separator between some QAT icons, like other software with customizable toolbars allow.

    Luis,

I get the feeling maybe you've mistaken this thread for a bridge.

Someone that would call out an entire group for what he considers an obvious and long standing feature would already know that when customizing the Quick Access Toolbar the first item on the list has always been <Separator>.

Thanks for the opportunity to turn off notification.
