How to reduce the size of quick access toolbar icons? (Office 2016)

Lee & Dan - the deployment team have a tap that they turn very slowly while we keep an eye on incoming telemetry for unforeseen issues; it is good feedback that this is pretty frustrating if you are waiting for a change (and wanting to let us know quickly if things have improved or not) - I'll pass it on to the deployment team.

We could open the floodgates but then we risk an inadvertent error hitting multiple millions of folks - something our processes are designed to avoid. By starting small and listening we can pause the rollout & identify/fix issues before everyone gets hit by them.

Usually we catch issues internally (as we roll from the Office team to our Applications & Services group and then all of Microsoft and our globally) but our customers continue to amaze, delight and surprise us in the inventive ways they use our apps so sometimes we might miss an issue and the throttle is our last change to reduce the impact.

If you have a spare PC and you want to keep an eye on what's upcoming then you can consider the Insider program, but bear in mind that pre-release software comes with greater risk, so don't do this on your primary machine (leave that risk to us :-):

How do those of us on 365 get the updates?

I ran updates yesterday and again today and have not seen any Office 2016 updates.

It's bad enough that we've had to suffer this complete b@alls-up (the introduction of over-wide Office 2016 Quick Access Toolbar icons causing the QAT to wrap - necessitating double-clicking, consequently completely defeating the purpose of Quick AT).  It's even worse (very frustrating) to know that there's a fix others are using, that hasn't percolated through to me.

I find this window into the MS soul absolutely fascinating. Like I said, Patrick deserves a raise for just listening to us.  But the take on 3 steps back and one step forward is so apt when it comes to the GUI.  Which is kind of pathetic since they already had it right in 7 and 2010.  I love the idea of a company wasting close to billions to come out with a GUI piece of ****, even though the underlying architecture is vastly superior.  So I like the speed and reliability. But at what cost!!!??? And what is worse, this is a cost that could have been avoided.  The lost profits from 8 could easily have paid for a desktop version (with all the d*** icons and cleartype, thank you). Instead we get this teenager android fantasy, and are expected to bend over in gratitude?  Sorry every time I think about MS I get a little bothered.
