How to reduce the size of quick access toolbar icons? (Office 2016)

With the update to Office 2016 the Quick Access Toolbar icons were enlarged.

I used to have a filled Quick Access toolbar for Excel and now they do not fit defeating the purpose.

Is there any way to reduce the size of Quick Access Toolbar items?

Folks, our shared UX controls team have been following this thread, as well as your requests on UserVoice and are spinning up some work to address your concerns. I can't promise a specific date for getting this work out to you all, but they recognize the impact this has had on those of you who work with customized QAT and are moving very quickly.

When they're done you'll see the improvement arrive as part of the regular updates we send all subscription customers.

Thanks again for the clear feedback, both here and on UserVoice - keep it coming!

Cheers...pc

Updates are made available on the update server, but they are not pushed out immediately to everyone at the same time.

So, if you have not already received it, clicking on "Update Now" says give me any updates more recent than my current version.

Good to know - apparently I interpreted "automatically" liberally to mean "automatically when completed," not literally as "automatically at some time or another."

I shall modify my behavior accordingly...

Thanks for alerting me.  Stopped daily updating some days ago.  So pleased to see the return of the QAT to it's former dimensions.

To Microsoft:  Thank you.  Just what I need.

THE QAT IS BACK!  Sorry for shouting, but I am so happy the "Quick" is back in the QAT.  After reading Lee Coventry's post, I manually updated et voila, little buttons with little spacing.  And the Touch/Mouse Mode actually works.  Many, many thanks.

Just one question, however - even though my account page reads "Updates are automatically updated and installed," I had to run U****pdate Now to get the update.  ???

    SO glad QAT is fixed...

Whaddy know!!! The Zen thing worked!!

Last week I caught an update from 6366.2062 to 6366.2068 and was disappointed.

But lo and behold this week it went to 6568.2025 and the icons are back to a reasonable size.

Switching between Mouse and Touch also works in taking them back to what they were and back again.

Hope everyone else is getting it as well

    -Dan
