Making desktop onenote default for windows 10

Hello

So I've just received my windows 10 pro today

I tried making my onenote desktop as my default but when i bring up the menu from the right side and click "note", it still brings up the none desktop version of onenote

how do i fix this?

    Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I followed these instructions to work for re-associating the Office one note program with the onenote-cmd that appears from the Action Center:  https://dirteam.com/chris/2015/09/10/68/

    Not a real solution to this issue - but thisshows how to make the associations - other than for the OneNote-CMD URL:onenote-cmd association. They make the point that this particular association (onenote-cmd) is not intended to be changed.

    Poor design on MS's part - why sell a full version of OneNote and then override it with a free scaled down version and make it nearly impossible to use the paid version as the default. Quite ridiculous. MS is getting WAY TOO comfortable with the one size fits all dumbed down version of everything. It's really making me re-think looking more at Linux OS's. I have been an MS tech for over 25 years - it's a shame to see this change in direction from MS.
