I hate the new app and cannot see how to keep tabs for sections on top.

The section tabs are part of the Onenote desktop application.

You're ranting about the Onenote App from the Windows Store.

in windows 8.1, i had really started using the OneNote.

Neow, with Windows 10, it is pretty much worthless.

I hate the new app and cannot see how to keep tabs for sections on top.

    HORRIBLE.

your script is only for changing the Purple button function right?

do you know if there is a 3rd party method of changing the "note" function as well? to make it open the OneNote Desktop

read the instructions on the website for how to do this as its a bit long winded to put here.
