Hello
So I've just received my windows 10 pro today
I tried making my onenote desktop as my default but when i bring up the menu from the right side and click "note", it still brings up the none desktop version of onenote
how do i fix this?

But if I press the pen button when the screen is locked on my SP3, the Metro Onenote magically installs itself and pops up asking me to sign in. The desktop version indeed works when the screen is unlocked.
Do you have the same problem?

Thanks, this did work to get rid of the other onenote program, but I still can't set onenote desktop as the default app for the "onenote-cmd" protocol (so the pen button opens onenote). In fact, that no longer shows up on the list when I try to set default applications by protocol. Any ideas on that part?
Instead of making it default which doesn't seem to work properly you could just uninstall the Metro OneNote.
This is not possible via standard way (Settings->System->Apps & Features) as the option to uninstall is disabled.
Instead you may do so by starting the Powershell as Administrator and run:
Get``-AppxPackage
*OneNote* | Remove``-AppxPackage
I fiddle around this a bit and found the way :)
Go to Setting - System - Defaults Apps
At the bottom choose Set defaults by app
Select OneNote(Desktop) and then press Set this program as default. This will give the program all defaults
Next time you start OneNote(desktop) you will once again be asked if you want to set tit to default. Choose to set it to default and the messages goes away for good!
