Quick Access Toolbar Office 2016 Icon Spacing too big

The funny thing is, MS boasts about the interface adjusting to the environment it is running on, PC, Tablet, Smartphone... well why are we getting a GUI that is made for fat fingers on a small display on a non-touch LED display that works with a physical keyboard and mouse? Gents in Seattle, pull the fingers from your ears and action to get the paying customers the appropriate interface that goes with the matching hardware?

You have to ask yourself, why have high end graphics, when the display of the interface is back to the letter setting ages. Anyway, thoroughly concur. Lost icons due spacing going from 2010 to 2013, and now the double spacing [AND] lack of color, makes me have to look  much harder [gray on darker green, who the heck came up with that brain gas extrusion?], straining, PLUS 12 QAT icons are now on the drop down list, and that is with a workbook name of only 9 characters. Display 1600x900 or something like that. Got suckered in, because testing on a 2600 pixel wide screen did not alert me to this -major- issue! That's not my work machine as the 26" screen width just gives me neck cramps to have to continuously turn head to see what's on the sheet.

Oh yes, without any warning my 2013 Office got removed completely but for Custom UI editor. Also all pinned books were gone and the silly "It seems this is the first time your open Excel". No it is not.

Edit: Meantime, some bigger workbooks caused Excel 2016 to crash repeatedly, even after running a repair, loading the sheet in 2010 and save it, then load it in 2016, still crashing, so uninstalled 2016-64 bit [but not sure about that], installed 2013 - 64 bit again and all is working again. Next time buying an new version I'll think twice. 149 Euro dumped in the MS pit.

Again, another instance of microsoft knowing more of the needs of their users than the actual person. They want everything to go to a touch environment rather than improve the desktop environment. It can not be that hard to revert back to the code that takes the extra space from the QAT. Microsoft thinks it is too big to listen to what the consumer wants. I think not.

Yes, the Icon space Way too big. Defeats purpose.  Same with all new Office 2016 programs.  Forget Touch, as it will never be what business people use on a day to day basis.  Have options for "Optimized for desktop" and Optimized for Touch". 

Most companies will not spend the $$ needed to upgrade to touch screens.

Even moving the QAT below the ribbon does not help that much.

I use a 23" monitor.  Beside, having a quick access toolbar, where all my icons were in a 6 inch length, are now a 12 inch length, is not quicker.  

Microsoft, please fix this. Obviously, this change to the QAT was made by people who do not USE the applications daily. Touch will never be used in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc., it's more cumbersome than a mouse.
