Quick Access Toolbar Office 2016 Icon Spacing too big

Appreciate the platitudes, but my frustration is not the point - my ability to work efficiently in my way is the issue.  MS used to put a premium on providing choice and this is a backwards step.  No, I am not minimizing the ribbon - it does take up a lot of space and it did take some getting used to, but I now work effectively with a combination of the toolbar and the ribbon.  For example, on the toolbar, depending on which program I'm in, I'll have formatting, titles setting, window splitting and stuff that I use frequently where the visual cue on the toolbar makes it simple.  The ribbon will be on whatever part I am mainly involved with at the time - mostly on home, but I may be reviewing a document so have it on Review, and use the formatting on the toobar so I don't have to flick between ribbons.

So, long story short - I need both and if I can't have that with 2016 then I don't want 2016.  It does not offer enough advantages to make the death of the QAT worthwhile.

So I guess that leaves me with two questions:

1. Is there a Use Voice for Office in general, because this affects all of Office, not just Excel or Access?
2. How do I uninstall 2016 and go back to the future with 2013?

I have the same complaint. I am on a non-touch device. The QAT was set perfectly for the way I work with my most used menu clicks in the QAT. They spanned PowerPoint from Left to right on a wide monitor.

Now with the 2016 install, they are nearly half what they were before with the extra icons now falling into a pulldown. I find it unacceptable and would rather fall back to Office 365.  Can you tell me how to so that?

Yes, I understand your frustration. I encourage you to feedback to the relevant User Voice site(s) - the most effective feedback focuses on what you are trying to do (and, if relevant, how we are getting in your way) rather than jumping right to a suggested solution (although that's valuable as well).

I understand that you are loading up the QAT so that you can minimize the ribbon (and get more screen for getting your job done) - it would be useful if you can also let us know what you are putting on your QAT...

I have the same issue with Office 2016 and it's rather ridiculous. The very first thing I do is customize the quick access bar in each program, and there simply is not enough room now with the spacing. I'm in the middle of building a database for our business with Access and yesterday took me much longer than it should have, and was a frustrating time, just because of the extra clicks I needed. I've decided to hold off deploying 2016 in our company.

Unfortunately, although the link helps to define the problem, ie touch screen for 15% ruining it for 85%, it does not help in any way resolve it.  The last thing I want to do is memorise more shortcuts - the toolbar was great, a simply wonderful tool and it is now useless.  The supersize spacing even makes it difficult to visualize and select from the few icons that can be seen.

I have around 43 shortcuts on my QAT.  Screen Resolution is 1440x900. 

It would seem to me that a company like Microsoft would have learnt by now that the reason they stay ahead of Apple in the software market is because they give consumers choices about how they work and what they see.  I use an Apple computer because of the great hardware and then go straight to virtual Microsoft because I want to do things the way I find most efficient.  Just release an update with an option for a non-touch screen interface - it really is that simple.
