Disappearing Ink problem in OneNote 2016 + Surface Pro 3

Hi,

I just upgraded to Office 2016 via the Office 365 subscription. Working on a Surface Pro 3 and Windows 10. I am mostly using OneNote 2016 to take handwritten notes using the Surface Pen.

The disappearing ink issue, (that was a problem in the OneNote 2013 edition, until it was fixed), seems to be back: parts of written stuff disappear. I was writing in OneNote 2016, and out of nowhere, parts of what I had written earlier disappeared. Though the issue is not as severe as it was earlier, when the disappearing was very frequent.

This needs to be fixed ASAP, it renders OneNote not very useful for note-taking!

I have now been using OneNote 2016 with the updates and the "turn-off" instruction for text recognition - and so-far no issues - although I remain nervous. Thanks Mavis.

I have this problem occurring several times when I was making my notes!

It is annoying! I have to rewrite my notes time and time again, also, I lost some important notes when what I took in class.

    :(

    Hi guys

Whilst you obviously trying to sort this out please do not simply assume that the problem can be resolved by simply turning hand writing recognition off.

In my experience it is more fundamental than that. I find graphic objects arbitrarily moving on the page - overlapping objects suddenly become 'hidden' when drawing and other objects simply disappearing when I have taken much time to create them!

There seems to be no rational explanation for this.  It really is a very poor application and like others have said - from one of the worlds leading software houses it should not be so bug- ridden. In my view it is pathetic.

Thank you for working on the bug. It's end of October now and I'm really frustrated the bug is still there. I'm a teacher and using onenote so that students can go home and look at the notes from class. But my handwriting gets lost partially just minutes after I made them. this really makes Onenote useless.

Please come up with a fix soon!

    Microsoft team:

I have the same problem with OneNote 2016 that others are describing.  Turning off handwriting recognition does solve the problem.

However, it may interest you that I have experienced a similar problem with Word 2016.  I was working on a document that I had saved to my OneDrive folder, and text that I had typed simply disappeared.  I had to rewrite portions of this document several times before I realized that it must be a syncing problem and saved the document to a local folder.

    Thanks,

    Marcia
