Disappearing Ink problem in OneNote 2016 + Surface Pro 3

Hi,

I just upgraded to Office 2016 via the Office 365 subscription. Working on a Surface Pro 3 and Windows 10. I am mostly using OneNote 2016 to take handwritten notes using the Surface Pen.

The disappearing ink issue, (that was a problem in the OneNote 2013 edition, until it was fixed), seems to be back: parts of written stuff disappear. I was writing in OneNote 2016, and out of nowhere, parts of what I had written earlier disappeared. Though the issue is not as severe as it was earlier, when the disappearing was very frequent.

This needs to be fixed ASAP, it renders OneNote not very useful for note-taking!

    Hi,

I am very pleased that I must confirm that it is sufficient to switch off hand writing recognition.

But must say that negative attitude to new Microsoft product stays in right place and I will not be again so stupid to go to new version so early. As they are not able to do it as Apple. Unfortunately. This is so not business and marketing attitude from Microsoft to put in risk the best feature in the market and the best winning point against HW competitors. I can understand it if talking about small company but Microsoft?

Hi William.  I have the disappearing ink problem as well.  I have a brand new Surface Book and the ONLY software I have installed is Office 2016.  So cannot be the result of conflict with cumulative registry changes (I don't have hardly any yet) nor conflict with other programs (I don't have any others..).  Cheers.

Thanks Rakesh for pointing this out.  I thought I was going mad!  I have the same problem, but with Surface Book running Onenote 2016.

    Hi,

This note disappearing thing has been going on for a few weeks now and I've lost plenty of notes....using this to work on math problems/studying.  I actually had a different computer that just didn't let me take pen notes very well, so I got myself a surface pro 3 i7.....   I got this bad boy primarily for the note taking ....  I am having some buyer's remorse.

I'm running windows 10 and using office 2016

Please fix as I do love Microsoft products...when they work.

    Best,

    Thanh

I currently experienced the same issue today of the disappearing ink. I sat through 7 hours of lectures to find that my notes where very incomplete with many things that I wrote not there.

    I am currently running the lastest version of OneNote 2016 x64 16.0.6001.1034 on a Surface Pro 4 i5 / 4gb RAM.

Not what I would of expected, I did not have the hand written recognition turned off as I wasn't aware of the issue.
