Hi,
I just upgraded to Office 2016 via the Office 365 subscription. Working on a Surface Pro 3 and Windows 10. I am mostly using OneNote 2016 to take handwritten notes using the Surface Pen.
The disappearing ink issue, (that was a problem in the OneNote 2013 edition, until it was fixed), seems to be back: parts of written stuff disappear. I was writing in OneNote 2016, and out of nowhere, parts of what I had written earlier disappeared. Though the issue is not as severe as it was earlier, when the disappearing was very frequent.
This needs to be fixed ASAP, it renders OneNote not very useful for note-taking!

We understand the cause of the bug that you are likely hitting. Disabling handwriting recognition will help avoid that bug. We are working on resolving the issue and I will post here when I have an update.
So, a month later, are there any updates on this GIANT bug? Having a workaround is not a solution, and the ability to search notes with handwriting recognition is supposed to be a major advantage of keeping them digitally.
Good question capecrs...worth noting that we learn very little from Microsoft about how they are dealing with these bugs in ON 2016...and earler versions....(You never know they may have tried using One Note to communicate on these web pages - but failed because of these bugs!!)
Personally I have given up using it because it is not only the handwriting issue that is a problem, but for those of us that use it for drawing/ sketching then even more bugs surface...unfortunately for MS it is because they marketed Surface Pros so strongly for the ON functionality - they have actuallly undermined their whole marketing strategy with this **** software... dumb or what!
So at least Evernote is stable and easy to use and works across platforms and devices.

I disabled hand writing recognition and it seems that the disappearing ink has not happened. Thank you for the fix but hope to see this fixed soon.

I have not had any further disappearance of notes since disabling handwriting recognition. However, I would still have hoped for more answers or information from MS. It would be interesting to hear what percentage of Office 2016 OneNote users actually have this problem, and what any similarities might exist among them.
