Hi all,

I have an access acce that i run on two different machines, one of which is in windows 10 /Office 2016, the other one is in Windows 10 / Office 2010. My Acces prints out perfectly on the 2010 version of Access and no image is coming our on the 2016 version on Office (the same Accde was printing perfectly as i had Access 2013 before the weekend) now no image is coming out on the print.

If I look on screen at the report, pictures are there, as soon as I get onto the print preview, images are gone !

This is probably a new feature of access 2016 that I am not aware of !

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks in advance

Marc

Patrick, I fully understand the affect this has had. And I couldn't agree more that a way of going back should have been made available. But it doesn't really matter how specific the issue is, a fix needed to be found, tested and then implemented within the rollout cycle. As I understand it a potential fix was identified late in October. And the testing made it miss the November cycle. Hence the December release.

4 months to fix an issue in a production system would land me into a lot of trouble.

I'm not sure where you are getting 4 months from. The issue first came to light near the end of September. Assuming the current timetable, it should be fixed by mid December. So that's less than 3 months. While I would have liked to see a quicker release of a fix, this was not a bug that rendered the program useless. So I don't see the time frame as that much of an issue.

My mistake.  I counted Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec but I'll accept it is 3 months.  Sir you may not find 3 months an issue but to someone relying on the product in their business 3 months is quite an issue.  Fortunately for me I found a computer that had not be updated to 2016 so I will be able to publish the report on time.  Others may not be so fortunate.  While you are correct in saying that the bug did not render the program useless, that is similar to saying a race car with a failed spark plug or two is not useless because it still runs.  As I said, I'm a long time IT person.  3 days to fix a serious production problem would have raised eyebrows.  3 months?  That would have done a lot more than raise eyebrows.

I agree entirely - shame on you MS!  I noticed this problem while in beta.. like others before your post, this bug should have been addressed well before public release, and now to wait for the December fix is woeful.

    Rod,

I didn't say its not an issue. It certainly is an issue. I just don't think it is a deal breaker. And your analogy doesn't work for me. Its more like a regular car with a broken real wiper. It still works and it still does mostly the same thing, but one, fairly small, part doesn't work. I'm also a long time IT person. Been working in IT for more than 30 years. And it depends on the flaw and its impact. Office is a very complex application and there are many parts that have to interact.

I'll give an example. My company uses a product from the one of the top 5 ERP software companies. We encountered a bug about 3 months ago. We went through several weeks of testing to get the bug acknowledged and another 2 months to get a fix published. So this is not at all unusual.

Home grown production systems are not the same as complex commercial software.

Did you report it? If you did not report it you really can't complain.
