When I click on Assign Resources MS Project shuts down ?  Has this happened to others and is there a solution, or suggestions for a good around ?

I reported this problem to my contacts at Microsoft, and they found out what you are experiencing is a bug due to the "presence" indicator that comes through Outlook and Skype for Business.  The bug is now slated for fixing, but there is no timeline on when the bug fix will be released.  In the meantime, please try the following in Microsoft Project 2016 to disable the "presence" indicator for resources:

  1. Click File > Options > Display.
  2. DESELECT the "Online status next to name" checkbox.
  3. Click the OK button.

    Pete,

    Check the bit number of Project 2016 installed. Can you verify that it is 64-bit ? If not sure, simply try 32-bit update. 

    To my best knowledge, download sites do not include products updated with the latest public updates (or hotfixes) but sometimes they may include products with Service Packs as listed separately. This is a good thing since users sometimes do not want to include certain updates with their product, then in this case, they won't be looking for the ways to remove an already-installed update from the release-version of the product.

    Hi Ismet,

    I've another quick question for you. I downloaded my version of Microsoft Project 2016 on 18 February 2016. Since this patch came out on 9 February 2016 how come my download wasn't already updated?

    Hi Ismet,

    Thanks for your reply. However when I downloaded, saved it and ran it I got the message that 'There are no products affected by this package installed on this system.' I have definitely got Microsoft Project 2016 installed on my PC (running Windows 10).
