When I click on Assign Resources MS Project shuts down ?  Has this happened to others and is there a solution, or suggestions for a good around ?

I reported this problem to my contacts at Microsoft, and they found out what you are experiencing is a bug due to the "presence" indicator that comes through Outlook and Skype for Business.  The bug is now slated for fixing, but there is no timeline on when the bug fix will be released.  In the meantime, please try the following in Microsoft Project 2016 to disable the "presence" indicator for resources:

  1. Click File > Options > Display.
  2. DESELECT the "Online status next to name" checkbox.
  3. Click the OK button.

    Got the same problem. 

    Installed Project 2016 on windows 10 - tried to reinstall , online , off-line, use registry cleaner , actually all the steps. Still not working. I am kind of frustrated at this point , especially after last chat, they suggest me to get professional help for 499bucks while paid for the suite 200 euro. That's crazy ! 

    Nevertheless I don't find any other solutions online how about you guys ?

    DID anyone get this issue solved by now ?

    hi there, 

    thanks for your suggestions, I'm still having the same Problem.

    Server 2012 R2 (RDS) + Project 2016 standard - latest patches:

    On assigning resources project crashes.

    I've tried "Online Status Next to name" to uncheck - no success.

    I've also installed all available hotfixes for project:

    February Update - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114714

    July Update - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3115284

    Still got the problem, that project is crashing.

    Thank you Dale! I tried lots of (kinda lame) things to fix the crashes and would have never thought of the online status. Thanks again! Scott(-:

    Still no solution for the Problem in July Operating on Windows 7. Do not have a system that I can try with Windows 10 and see if that makes a difference.  Just checked all updates applied will try the repair and see if that makes a difference.
