When I click on Assign Resources MS Project shuts down ?  Has this happened to others and is there a solution, or suggestions for a good around ?

I reported this problem to my contacts at Microsoft, and they found out what you are experiencing is a bug due to the "presence" indicator that comes through Outlook and Skype for Business.  The bug is now slated for fixing, but there is no timeline on when the bug fix will be released.  In the meantime, please try the following in Microsoft Project 2016 to disable the "presence" indicator for resources:

  1. Click File > Options > Display.
  2. DESELECT the "Online status next to name" checkbox.
  3. Click the OK button.

    Hi, the program crashes when I select "options" so can't use that suggestion

    Hi everyone,

    MS-Project crashed (freezes) with me SOMETIMES when I open it from an Outlook e-mail and I save. Also sometimes when I open from Explorer and file/save it although less.

    I have the highest spec Surface Pro 4 and use Ms Project as core tool for my job so I am pretty disappointed that I dished out so much for this to happen.

    I moved away from using Apple Macs with  no problems at all because Project is not offered for Mac unlike Office which ran like a breeze on my Macs at home.

    Sir,

    I want to say thank you very much. You just saved my EMBA (which is why I needed Project), and you just did more than Microsoft was willing to do to help me! I spent two hours on chat with Microsoft, and they were unable to solve this issue, they couldn't explain it, then they transferred me to someone who told me I would have to pay them for higher level technical support, after spending over 500.00 for Project 2016. 

    Microsoft has clearly lost touch with their customers.

    Got the same problem. 

    Installed Project 2016 on windows 10 - tried to reinstall , online , off-line, use registry cleaner , actually all the steps. Still not working. I am kind of frustrated at this point , especially after last chat, they suggest me to get professional help for 499bucks while paid for the suite 200 euro. That's crazy ! 

    Nevertheless I don't find any other solutions online how about you guys ?

    DID anyone get this issue solved by now ?
