Hallo everyone,
I am having severe problems with Word 2016, as it does not print the document layout correctly as it somehow messes up the margin when printing.
NOTE: This happens when printing to Adobe Acrobat DC and my physical printer!
My document layout:
• no markup,
• custom margins (set to 1,27cm top / bottom and left / right - my printer can easily handle these...)
• no header or footer
• paper size set to A4 in all settings

The following is picture shows page 1 of my document in "Print Layout"-view. This is how I want the document to look when printed.
IMAGE 2
Here is a picture of the Print-preview menu. You can see that the Print preview still shows the document exactly as I want it. No problems. No funny settings selected. No "Print Markup" selected.

Now this is what happens when I print the actual document:
The bottom margin changes and suddenly the whole layout is messed up!
Please advise whether this a bug, or some setting I seem to wrongfully configure.
This is really annoying as I sometimes spend hours to get the layout and spacing in a document right, but then when it comes to printing the document, everything is messed up.
Thank you.

Good News! A fix has been released to the latest click to run version of office and I encourage anyone that is running into this problem to install and verify it is fixed. Also, for MSI customers, we expect to release a fix early next year if there are no issues discovered in the click to run version.
Thanks!
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
When will this fix be available for MSI customers? We have 2016 standalone (MSI). Could you send me the KB number when it can be installed?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Henrik Thyssen
Good news? I don't think so 2018-01-22
I just checked my Word version:
Is this the current version as from 2018-01-22?
I loaded my test document formatted with the font Myriad Pro:
When I convert the Word document to PDF using Acrobat DC 2018.009.20050 I also get 37 pages.
When I check all pages the result is still frustrating: Several page breaks are still different in Word and PDF.
The following screenshot shows details about the different rendering. On the left Word on the right PDF
Microsoft, why isn't it possible to inform your customers about this dramatic issue?
Dieter
I completely agree Dieter!
This thread has been running for nearly 26 months and has nearly 14,000 views to date. Within it, there are many clear descriptions of a serious and still-unresolved flaw related to pagination errors when widely-used professional fonts are used in recent versions of Word.
I'm sure many of us would be more than willing to provide documents that can clearly demonstrate the problem.
So please, for any Microsoft programmers who may be reading this thread: contact us (offline if necessary), so you can have real documents such as Dieter's that will enable you to properly test any solutions that may help to finally resolve this issue.
I'd add here, that I'm sure many of us would be more than willing to provide these documents for the court to sue them.
This is ridiculous.
