BUG!! Word 2016 fails to print margins correctly / messes up layout (Possible OpenType .otf Font bug)

Hallo everyone,

I am having severe problems with Word 2016, as it does not print the document layout correctly as it somehow messes up the margin when printing.

NOTE: This happens when printing to Adobe Acrobat DC and my physical printer!

My document layout:

• no markup,

• custom margins (set to 1,27cm top / bottom and left / right - my printer can easily handle these...)

• no header or footer

• paper size set to A4 in all settings

The following is picture shows page 1 of my document in "Print Layout"-view. This is how I want the document to look when printed.

Here is a picture of the Print-preview menu. You can see that the Print preview still shows the document exactly as I want it. No problems. No funny settings selected. No "Print Markup" selected.

Now this is what happens when I print the actual document:

The bottom margin changes and suddenly the whole layout is messed up!

Please advise whether this a bug, or some setting I seem to wrongfully configure.

This is really annoying as I sometimes spend hours to get the layout and spacing in a document right, but then when it comes to printing the document, everything is messed up.

It auto updated for me... I don't have issues with the fonts anymore but still have issues with borders and margins especially with headers/footers in compatibility mode. Sometimes the problem is there and sometimes it's not. Also with the latest update it broke the page number resets per section break in compatibility mode... which is a major pain since I have to delete and the recreate all section breaks with new "next page" breaks. Continuous breaks don't allow for page number resetting any longer. Gah!

Did it auto update or was there steps you had to take? I am a bit confused about the steps people have been taking to resolve this problem if it does indeed resolve the problem. I have a 600 page textbook that I am not even sure I want the fix now because I had to go page by page looking at adobe and back to windows to decide where I had to break pages in the document. If it is fixed I will have to do this all over again. ugh.

Just an update on this: We are on Version 1710 Build 8625.2139

And we have to check off Use Printer Metrics for EVERY DOCUMENT we've ever created and templates, and some don't even allow us the option. So this is still not fixed without the user having to go through the settings of Word and finding Use printer metrics and compatibility with 2010. They are not happy and I have no idea what more to do, I just hope the VP's of the company don't come knocking on my door asking why I can't fix it.

I did additional tests and now I have the impression, it's not an Open Type bug any longer concerning wrong line spacing calculation but a "page layout conversion calculation bug". The following picture shows: Line spacing in paragraphs seem to be o.k. but the PDF pages seem to be longer than the pages in Word.

Once again on the left Word and on the right PDF.

In Word and in Acrobat the page size is equally shown as 210 x 297 (=A4).

Very strange, isn't it?
