Hallo everyone,
I am having severe problems with Word 2016, as it does not print the document layout correctly as it somehow messes up the margin when printing.
NOTE: This happens when printing to Adobe Acrobat DC and my physical printer!
My document layout:
• no markup,
• custom margins (set to 1,27cm top / bottom and left / right - my printer can easily handle these...)
• no header or footer
• paper size set to A4 in all settings

The following is picture shows page 1 of my document in "Print Layout"-view. This is how I want the document to look when printed.

Here is a picture of the Print-preview menu. You can see that the Print preview still shows the document exactly as I want it. No problems. No funny settings selected. No "Print Markup" selected.

Now this is what happens when I print the actual document:
The bottom margin changes and suddenly the whole layout is messed up!
Please advise whether this a bug, or some setting I seem to wrongfully configure.
This is really annoying as I sometimes spend hours to get the layout and spacing in a document right, but then when it comes to printing the document, everything is messed up.

Done! Let's hope indeed someone will listen, as surely this is a serious bug. And using InDesign for simple documents really isn't an option for me :)

No.... absolute no news! I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you as well. It is not like Myriad Pro is an unknown / unsupported font either.
I am seriously considering switching to InDesign to work on future reports and word processing. Wouldn't that be shame - that Word has become unusable as a Word Processor to complete basic tasks.

I just noticed that when I export to pdf, all text set in "Myriad Pro" is converted to images in the pdf (either via Acrobat DC or the pdf-exporter of Microsoft). Seems like there are some serious problems with the handling of third party fonts ...
Well I have looked at the different system setups Doug used to successfully print my document, and my specific configuration was the only one he was not able to test.
Ok. So I then spent the whole afternoon doing the following:
• Create a VM with the same configuration as one of Doug's which apparently printed the document correctly
• Configured to: Windows 10 x64 Pro with Word 2016 (32-bit)
**•**Freshly installed Windows, Office 2016 and Acrobat DC
I used the files I sent to him in this fresh installation, but unfortunately*,* this is what happened:
1. Opening the .docx (with the embedded fonts)
• From the screenshot below, you will see that Word 2016 has failed to display and use some of the embedded fonts correctly. (Strange...., since it is only 2 font family types!?)
• There were no error messages, just the substitution of the fonts with whatever Word 2016 decided.
• The font names remained as the custom ones I used.
= FINAL OUTPUT (PRINTING): The margins / page breaks printed correctly to the PDF, but with the wrong fonts!
= I am therefore no closer to a solution.
2. Installing the custom fonts
• I then installed the custom .otf fonts on my virtual system.
• Word managed to display the document correctly.
= FINAL OUTPUT (PRINTING): Word FAILED yet again to print the margins / page breaks correctly!
= I ended up with the exact same result as in my opening post!
= Using the same setup as Doug does not resolve the issue
Doug, could you upload / email me a screenshot of the PDF you managed to successfully print on your Windows 10 system?

Out of curiosity, I created a single page of text in Word 2016, set in Arno Pro. When I exported to pdf, I got two pages. I then opened the pdf in Word and noticed that the "space after" a paragraph was set to 8,1 and the line spacing to 1,1 while the original document had 8 and 1. This does not happen when I use e.g. the Calibri font.
