How can I configure Excel to open only one instance similar to 2010.

Excel 2016 when opened opens only one instance. However, let us know if you are talking about the ability in Excel 2016 to open multiple spreadsheets in the same Excel 2016 window? If yes, then this feature is not available in Excel 2016 and was discontinued since Excel 2013.

    Agree 100%.  This is less efficient and just clutters the screen when I try to compare two sheets of data.

    Why was this option killed? And yet, why did you keep the (now not functional) buttons in the view-menu to sort all windows horizontally, vertically, cascaded, side by side, etc.? Why is MSFT so persistent in taking options and individual usability away from their users? They are doing so in Windows, but also in Office. Why are they making so much effort to annoy users? I really don't get it.

    This thread/topic started 2½ years ago and still they are only "looking in to it".  >:(

    P.S.: A few attempts later, the display of two files side-by-side suddenly works, including synchronous scrolling. I can imagine though that viewing more than two files (especially when dividing horizontally on wide-screen monitors) becomes a burden with each file having its own menu/ribbon.

    UH Why the HELL would you remove the ability to open multiple sheets in one instance???!?!?!?!?!  Instead why didn't you add the functionality to do BOTH instead!!!!!!!

    I feel ripped off with my upgrade and why do you all insist on changing standard operations every five years or so.  Really you all need to hire smarter people and get some folks with common sense in your scrum sessions.

    This why I still use MS Money 2004

    I totally agree. Give me back the program I've been working with for décades. Stop messing around with this you obviously don't understand. Give me back my bread winner so that we can all go back to work and stop loosing so much time. Come back down to earth MS. New is not always better and it's never too late to change your minds. Excel today is (I'll say it again and again and again) a living nightmare for people that know how to use it. I've gone back to Excel 2010 everywhere I can and  Office 2010 for image control. I've given you money for the last eight years for NOTHING. WAKE UP.
