PowerPoint Mac 2016: The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file.

AAHHH! I just upgraded to PowerPoint for Mac, Office 2016, and I'm getting this same error. I spent a whole week on a presentation that I'm doing to tomorrow and almost all of my images have disappeared. THIS IS TERRIBLE! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. 

'The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file'

Is there a fix for this?? Preferably before tomorrow morning? These are all images that I either created or pulled as screen shots. (All jpegs.)

    They are aware of the issue???? It's not worth much to be aware if no fix is found :-(((((

    We are now end of Feb, and you know what? The Microsoft Tech Team is still useless.

    When you look around forums, this issues is hanging around since years. In other words, we buy a product from them (Office 365), and it's simply not functional. It's a scam.

    CAN WE BELIEVE THIS?

    Microsoft: you should be ashamed!

    (This happens in PC too, not just MAC.)  

    I have been making sure all my files are on the computer hard drive (not my external drive) and it works. I have been using this fix for a few months now. It does work and protect the images (its a pain in the butt with all the file moving...but its better than the alternative of losing images).  I just can't believe that it is still an issue, I feel insecure about my files with images.

    The person having old files being downloaded and still showing up with an error:

    I think I might have a solution to this one, I had this same problem whenever I downloaded something from gmail or the internet. it would tell me the file was corrupt.   the file opening may be being blocked by default settings inside of microsoft office programs. 

    in Word 

    go to File

    go to: options

    trust center

    trust center settings button (lower right)

    protected view:  disable the protected view (all 3). 

     hit OK to close windows (restart program)

    I think this has to be done independently in all the MS programs.

    I think site gave helpful information about how to correct the error. Its most likely a software setting.

    Unblock picture downloads for all messages

    1. On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Automatic Download.
    2. Clear the Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items check box.

    This isn't very useful for me or many of the mac users out there.  these security options and settings aren't available for the macs.
