PowerPoint Mac 2016: The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file.

AAHHH! I just upgraded to PowerPoint for Mac, Office 2016, and I'm getting this same error. I spent a whole week on a presentation that I'm doing to tomorrow and almost all of my images have disappeared. THIS IS TERRIBLE! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. 

'The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file'

Is there a fix for this?? Preferably before tomorrow morning? These are all images that I either created or pulled as screen shots. (All jpegs.)

    (This happens in PC too, not just MAC.)  

    I have been making sure all my files are on the computer hard drive (not my external drive) and it works. I have been using this fix for a few months now. It does work and protect the images (its a pain in the butt with all the file moving...but its better than the alternative of losing images).  I just can't believe that it is still an issue, I feel insecure about my files with images.

    They are aware of the issue???? It's not worth much to be aware if no fix is found :-(((((

    We are now end of Feb, and you know what? The Microsoft Tech Team is still useless.

    When you look around forums, this issues is hanging around since years. In other words, we buy a product from them (Office 365), and it's simply not functional. It's a scam.

    CAN WE BELIEVE THIS?

    Microsoft: you should be ashamed!

    No word on a fix from Microsoft, but they are aware of this problem and are with their developers.

    Confirmed - this is still happening with the latest OS and Office updates installed.

    • Operating System: OS X El Capitan version 10.11.3
    • Application: Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac version 15.19.1 (160212)

    We are using third party software to synchronize user folders on laptops to the file server.

    The file corruption presents as follows:

    Is there any word about a fix from Microsoft or an indication that they are aware of the problem?
