Excel 2016 for Mac does not recalculate

I have a multiple-sheet workbook that does not recalculate after I update some cells. It would only recalculate after I save and then reopen it. My Excel preferences is set to automatic recalculate. After I change the value of cells, the workbook does not recalculate even after I press the F9 key. I have tried Command+F9 to no avail. The workbook had a data connection and I had deleted it. The version is 15.12.3. Any idea what I can do?

ref my earlier question I found an answer that worked:

Instead the text of the formula itself appears in the cell directly. See example below. Cause: The cell is formatted as Text, which causes Excel to ignore any formulas. This could be directly due to the Text format, or is particularly common when importing data from a CSV or Notepad file

I copied the data from the original import worksheet into a fresh worksheet and the formulas worked fine

As Anthony noted, version 15.26 (160903) does contain the fix. This version has now been released to all audiences. Please make sure your Office is up to date and this problem should be resolved.

    I am running 15.19.1 as well and I am having the same issue...formula cells will not update instantaneously unless you have zoomed the spreadsheet out where the formula cell is in view when you update the data cell.

    I sent a "frowny face" report through Excel but I am not expecting much.

    Can confirm that new update has made no difference.  I'm also back to getting crash cycles when around 5 or so files are open.  Have to close down, restart the computer and start again.  This had been fixed in an earlier update but has come back again.

    The issue of the cell highlighter shows in a different area to the active cell.  I.e. you click on Cell D3 for example and the highlight marker to indicate the active cell is somewhere around D8, making it almost impossible to try and mouse click onto any field.  This only happens in Page Layout View, and Normal View seems to work ok.

    We're also finding since this latest update that we can not print "Entire Workbook" anymore without all the Page Orientations reverting to Portrait.  For example we have three worksheets that are normally printed in Portrait, and the 4th in Landscape.  As soon as you open the Print menu (even if you cancel the print), the Orientations all revert to Portrait.  Can't force this in anyway, so we are printing one worksheet at a time, which then loses our Page # of # function.
