Office 2016 uninstalls my Visio 2013

So, even though I had followed the instructions to install Office 2016 from Office 365 home, it was not successful even after 5 tries, restarting, uninstalling, restarting...my biggest issue is Visio 2013. I purchased it as I need it! But why can't I find any way to just upgrade Visio from 2013 to 2016? There is no instruction! I do not want to buy the new Visio 2016 when I only purchased Visio 2013 a few months ago. Please help!!!

I did not have any issues upgrading to the new Office. I originally had Office Professional Plus 2013 as well as Visio Professional 2013 installed on my computer. I uninstalled the Office program and then did a 'repair' of my Visio Professional program in 'Programs and Features' of the Control Panel. I then installed Office Professional Plus 2016. Both programs work perfectly.

Give it up. I went through the same issue and 3 calls to MS support with no results. I bought my Visio and one month later upgraded and it was useless. $300 down the drain! I will not throw good money after bad so I have moved to Lucid Charts. Cheaper and more user friendly; They actually care about their customers. MS is loosing the desktop market to all these mobile devices and hopes to make money by hurting their customer based (there is a strong term for what they are doing). The product folks must be in a bubble because there are other product solutions in the market.

Hi Maxwell, I am also having this error on my new laptop with windows 10. my old laptop had vision 2013 and office 2007 on Windows 7.

I re-installed office 2007 home w/o problems but when I installed Visio 2013 standard it gives me this error "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" when I start Visio.

How can I get this resolved w/o buying a new upgrade.

    Thanks

"Upgrading" will not fix this problem for you!

“The operating system is not presently configured to run this application.”

Answer - Do a thorough uninstall, using method 2 in 290301 (or appropriate KB article), then re-install.

Since you are having the problem with Visio, do as thorough an uninstall of Visio as you can.  Either manually, or by using an uninstall tool.
