Office 2016 uninstalls my Visio 2013

So, even though I had followed the instructions to install Office 2016 from Office 365 home, it was not successful even after 5 tries, restarting, uninstalling, restarting...my biggest issue is Visio 2013. I purchased it as I need it! But why can't I find any way to just upgrade Visio from 2013 to 2016? There is no instruction! I do not want to buy the new Visio 2016 when I only purchased Visio 2013 a few months ago. Please help!!!

I phoned Answer Desk for the free upgrade of Project Pro 2013 and Visio Pro 2013 to 2016 after discovering the incompatibility when trying to upgrade my Office 365 Home Premium to 2016. The Answer Tech was not aware of the offer so I had to tell them to search the support site for the title of this page:

Special offer for customers with Office 2016 and Office 2013 standalone applications

Once convinced by this they needed to consult a manager to authorise the free upgrades and sent me two links. I now have Project Pro 2016 and Visio Pro 2016 in my Microsoft Account.

    Hi All,

Well, I followed the advise above, but couldn't get past the the operator, but success by taking this advise but going via CHAT.

    Logon to your account.

    Go to Accounts & Billing

    Click on chat

When you get connected to Answer Tech, simply email the following: (UK link)

I'm looking to upgrade my Visio 2013 product to Visio 2016 as per Microsofts special offer, https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Special-offer-for-customers-with-Office-2016-and-Office-2013-standalone-applications-c32e3cad-e935-4163-a44f-50d896e10bbc

They will check your account and add it to your account, they will stay online until you receive the email link and click through until you see it on your account. They will also advise you that they will remove your 2013.

The process took a total of 10 minutes and very painless.

    Well done Microsoft

    hi all,

I have read the posts on this thread, my specific situation looks a bit different from the issues described here.

Would like to know if anyone recognizes this situation, and possibly has a solution for it.

I have installed Office 2013 Home and Business on my laptop, and recently bought Visio 2016 pro.

When installing Visio I get the message that the older Office applications need to be de-installed. If I continue the whole Office 2013 suite is removed and Visio is installed.

I got back to the old situation by de-installing Visio and re-installing Office 2013, but the obvious consequence is that I can't run Visio.

What to do best in this situation?

    kind regards, Henk
