So, even though I had followed the instructions to install Office 2016 from Office 365 home, it was not successful even after 5 tries, restarting, uninstalling, restarting...my biggest issue is Visio 2013. I purchased it as I need it! But why can't I find any way to just upgrade Visio from 2013 to 2016? There is no instruction! I do not want to buy the new Visio 2016 when I only purchased Visio 2013 a few months ago. Please help!!!

This is sounding more and more like we all need to file paperwork with consumer complaint divisions of our state attorney general.

I filed the following statement with my state attorney generals consumer complaint form:
"Microsoft offers a service called Office 365 which costs $99 per year and offers the purchaser the latest version of Office as it is released. Microsoft also sells two programs called Visio and Project which are a part of the Office family but are not a part of Office 365 (they cost $100-$250 each depending on version).
On September 22nd, Office 2016 came out, as an Office 365 member I installed this upgrade per my Office 365 subscription. I was previously using Office 2013. Upon installing Office 2016, Visio 2013 and Project 2013 were removed from my computer due to "incompatibilities" with Office 2016's Click to Run (CTR) environment. I attempted to reinstall Visio 2013 and Project 2013, but was again told that the CTR incompatibility would not allow this.
Since Office 2013 is no longer available, and since I would like to use Office 2016, I can no longer install and use Visio 2013 or Project 2013 programs I paid for and legally own.
I contacted Microsoft via a support forum, where many other users are experiencing the same issue. Their response was to call a phone number where I would be helped. Based on the responses of the people on the forum, I decided this would be a waste of my time as the majority of people said that support on the phone told them the same thing "A fix is coming we don't know when."
Since Office 2016 has been out in preview form since May of this year if not earlier, and this was a problem with the preview, my confidence that Microsoft will solve this problem is very low. I feel that the inability to not use my existing software is unacceptable, and furthermore I shouldn't have to call the company to beg them to give me new software that is computable, or beg for a fix to make my existing software work. It should be expected that software I bought recently (under 3 years old) should function on my PC."
I suggest people from Microsoft get their act together before more do the same. I suggest anyone in this forum having an issue to file a complaint as well.
Hi, I'm having same problem. I've had two chat sessions with different folk at MS, but I'm not getting a resolution. I realise that if I move from Office 365 Personal to one of the business subscriptions, that I can then have Visio as an add-on subscription. However, I'd like to be assured in advance that this will work, and I also need to know which Business subscription to go for. On top of that, how do I move to the business subscription. From what I've read, I can't transfer my subscription, so does that mean I cancel the personal subscription and create a business one?
Any help appreciated as I can't move to Office 2016 as I'll lose my Visio 2013 which I need for work.

There's not much point in approaching Microsoft Support : on my initial attempt, I was told to await a resolution from MS; the second time, after some 3 hours on the phone, and despite my warnings concerning the incompatibility of Office 2016 and Visio 2013, Support went ahead with the upgrade and then discovered that Visio 2013 refused to reinstall without first removing Office 2016. That call dropped out when they "transferred" me to the Office Pro tech support. On my third attempt, I was transferred fairly quickly to the Pro tech support, as by thenI has a case ID, but the best that they could do was advise me to roll back to Office 2013/Visio 2013. No real solution in sight, I'm afraid.
Newsflash: Just attempted to roll back as advised. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESTORE TO PRIOR TO OFFICE 2016 INSTALL
It doesn't work. You will just end up without any working version of Office, as well as losing VISIO/Project 2013
It seems that once Office 2013 has been removed by the Office 2016 installation program, it is gone forever, along with Visio 2013 etc.
