Office 2016 uninstalls my Visio 2013

Not according to the installation program. It categorically states that once removed by the Office 2016 installation, the 2013 versions of Visio, Project, InfoPath and SharePoint Developer CANNOT be reinstalled on the same machine.

This is the DUMBEST, STUPIDEST move to make. I mean, which manager signed off on the idea that it is OK for a version of one program to prevent OTHER versions of OTHER programs from being installed on the same machine. SACK THEM for ultimate stupidity.

Do they really think we want to have a second computer just to run the other programs?

I absolutely agree. This is completely unacceptable. I can't imagine this was done with broad awareness at the senior levels or this would have been shot down.

I pay for Office 365 because I use Word, Outlook, and Excel every day and am generally happy that includes automatic upgrades as soon as the new version comes out. But for MS Project and Visio, which I use a lot less often, I'm not willing to hundreds of dollars to move to the 2016 version. I would be willing to pay a few extra dollars per month/year on my Office 365 subscription to include Project and Visio, but I'm not going to buy a full version of those at every release. Maybe every 2 or 3 versions I buy.

This has always been fine in the past. Now, Microsoft is making this impossible. That's HORRIBLE. PLEASE FIX!!

Thanks Maxwell. So far I have been just lurking waiting for an answer. It looks like I need to post so that you can pass along guidance. I'm obviously facing the same problem. I have Office 365 Home and I have a copy of Visio Professional 2013 (Click to run, not VL MSI). Attempting to move to Office 365 v16 of course is trying to remove my Visio Pro 2013 C2R.

I understand the limitation of only having one version of C2R (obviously the engineering teams did a poor job on that).

As I see it, valid options are:

1. Provide an MSI based install and key for Visio Pro 2013 since we paid for 2013.
2. Provide a complimentary upgrade to Visio Pro 2016 C2R since I bought Visio 2013 just under a year ago.
3. Provide a reduced cost upgrade to Visio Pro 2016 C2R (something like $50)

Remember this is the Pro version not the standard version. And yes, it is the Click to run (C2R).

I can't actually see any other options that would resolve this in a reasonable way.

But you still have to call them.  That's dumb.  I'M NOT CALLING MICROSOFT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

They should do one of three things:

1. Add Visio and Project to Office 365 Home (I'd pay $5-10 a year for each).
2. Create a Web Site that allows a user with a perpetual 2013 key to convert it to a perpetual 2016 key for a nominal fee ($10-$20)
3. Allow two versions of CTR to work on one PC

I'm still waiting to see if HUP gets updated because that's basically #2 for me.  If not, I'll file a complaint with my State Attorney General about this and see how Microsoft responds.

I'm not wasting my time on the phone for something that should just work.
