Office 2016 uninstalls my Visio 2013

So, even though I had followed the instructions to install Office 2016 from Office 365 home, it was not successful even after 5 tries, restarting, uninstalling, restarting...my biggest issue is Visio 2013. I purchased it as I need it! But why can't I find any way to just upgrade Visio from 2013 to 2016? There is no instruction! I do not want to buy the new Visio 2016 when I only purchased Visio 2013 a few months ago. Please help!!!

From your Microsoft My Account Office 365 page, select Ask Support under Help and Support. Then, under Contact Us, click on Services and Apps. This opens up a small window; select Office or Office 365 for Window. Then click on Technical Support. And this is the important one - select Call me as soon as possible. Waiting times are usually only a couple of minutes. You'll need your Visio installation key, and you will almost certainly have to allow the Tech remote access to your computer, but it's no big deal. It's a good idea to have the link to the Special Offer page handy

Just in case you want to point the Tech towards it - but hopefully the info will have percolated down through the system by now. I didn't have to do much persuading; one relatively quick call to a line manager was all it took for the Tech to be convinced.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... been having too much fun with Office 2016 and Visio 2016!

    Good luck.

I've received that notification too, but have spent close to five hours trying to find someone in MS Support who's prepared to acknowledge and act on it, still with no success. In my case I'm having to Skype from Indonesia, though I bought the software in Australia. I think I've spoken to over 10 "Pro Support" specialists about it. Each one passes me onto the next, who's as useless as the last. You'd think MS would contact all those with registered copies and volunteer the free upgrade to Visio 2016.

    John

Use online chat support instead of phone support.

    Online chat support: **http://answerdesk.microsoftstore.com/AnswerTech******

I recently used online chat support myself. I found it had several advantages over phone support, even though you still contact the same outsourced, support personnel:

    • No ESL accent issues
    • Provides instant time stamped transcript
    • When you get transferred to the “right” person, they can review the history
    • If they don’t read history, you can copy / paste the past conversation to them, saving you having to repeat yourself
    • They are more likely to go off line to ask other people for help (good for you)
    • You don’t have to listen to “elevator muzak” when they are off line
    • You have 2 hands free to surf the web when they are not talking to you.

For some reason, I found that waiting for online chat responses intrinsically LESS  frustrating than listening to elevator muzak.

Make sure to copy the text from the chat window and save it before closing the chat window. It is handy to have a timestamped copy of the conversation, if only to publish it on the internet ... <evil grin>

Same issue as everyone. Project Standard 2013 and Visio Standard 2013 un-installed with 365 Home 2016 update. The Answer Desk and online support are worse than useless and simply send me running around in circles. I am not willing to call for support as I live in Kuwait and will have to pay international phone rates to solve this stupid issue. Considering I bought Visio in June 2015 and Project in July 2015, I am thoroughly disgusted by Microsoft's handling of this issue.
