Outlook 2016 Send from Outlook Alias Account?

Could you expand on this at all, I can't get this working.

Here is what I have tried...

I have an outlook.com account and outlook 2016 installed on my PC.

I have added an alias to the outlook.com account. This works fine within outlook.com. However, my desktop outlook 2016 does not see the alias when sending an email using the 'From' drop down menu.

If I set the alias as the default or primary, then delete the account from Outlook 2016 and add it again then I can send email as the long outlook_EAS************_outlook.com address but not the alias, which is an external domain not a Microsoft one.

I have tried creating another outlook.com account with another alias from my domain, but this does exactly the same thing.

I have been told by someone that I did not have to upgrade to premium for this to work.  

So I don't know if this will work or not but give this a shot...

• Make sure your Microsoft alias is the email address you want to use.
• Create a new mail profile through the Control Panel and create an email address using an outlook.com email address
• If what I was told is true, when you open Outlook you should see your alias instead of the outlook.com email address.

Please let me know if this works.  It does for me but a tech told me I had to upgrade to Premium for it to work.  Someone else told me you don't have to do that.  He said all Premium does is get rid of the ads.

If it works I'm calling Microsoft and dumping Outlook.com Premium

I have just installed the Office 2016 Preview and am severely disappointed to find that I cannot send from the alias within the new client. 

It's a work in progress in conjunction with the move of Outlook.com to the Exchange Online platform. Once that is completed and your account has been migrated, sending from an alias address will be possible without any additional configuration in Outlook 2010 or later.

Until then, you can configure the alias as an additional POP3 account and configure it for sending only.

This is still not solved.  I am really thinking to move towards the G* option.  Can at least someone explain the rationale behind this?  Both domains belong to me and I cannot send "from" my alternate domain address?

Microsoft breaks something with its Outlook.com update which makes people with personal domain email aliases left helpless...

And then two months later offers a fix - FOR $20 A YEAR!!!!

I cannot believe I had to "upgrade" to Outlook.com Premium to get my personal domain email to work properly again!

So to the 69 people above who had the same problem, the answer is to PAY MICROSOFT FOR THE FIX TO THE THING THEY BROKE.

What a scam, what a sham.  My choices are the Microsoft monopoly or the Apple monopoly.  Both SUCK.

Well here it is more than a year and a half later and I cannot use my alias on my Microsoft account.
