How do I convert .wps files to word 2016?

How do I convert files created on a vista system with .wps extensions to be read/used in word 2016.  Unable to find any converters on the office web site.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12 should work with 64 bit Windows, but may not work with 64 bit versions of Word. It only works with files from Works versions 6 to 9. For earlier Works versions you will need the very old filters linked from the downloads page of my web site.

Alternatively, use File Merlin to convert the files to Word format.

    The word "here" was hyperlinked. Since such hyperlinks are often not obvious, I made it bold so it would stand out, but it was already a hyperlink.
