Word 2016 typing is very slow

I just installed Word 2016 version 16.0.4229.1029. I am experiencing very slow typing with a document whose format is as follows:

10,000+ words
91 pages
one long table: 2,000+ rows, 5 columns

I have turned off spell checker, corrector, etc as well as turned off all unnecessary Windows 10 Home animation. I even copied it to outside my OneDrive folder.

My computer is as follows:

ASUS laptop
Intel Core i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.40 GHz
8 GB RAM
64-bit operating system
x64-based processor

Prior to this installation, I was using Word 2013 and typing was fast with this doc.

[As I last resort: revert to Word 2013, but how?]

I have tested other documents and they seem to be fine.

I am having the exact same problem here, and with regard to threads in several other forums, there are many users experiencing the same issues with Word 2016. @ZahirDhalla, could you solve the problem? Thanks for giving an update.

I have 'solved' the problem but it requires some work. I figured it was to do with working in Word 2016 on a document that was created in Word 2013 or prior. So I created a brand new 2016 document and, in my case, fresh new tables in it, and then copied and pasted the text from the old pre-2016 version. It worked.

I hope you guys can do the same. Please let us know.

Sorry for the late response.

Yes, I did solve the problem by creating a new blank document in the latest version of Word and creating fresh new tables in it, and then carefully copying and pasting the text from the old pre-2016 version. I also saved it outside OneDrive which I thought was also contributing to the problem. It worked - thus far, touch wood. My document is 800+ page with tons of tables.

Exactly the same here. We tried everything. Nothing helps. This MUST be solved by Microsoft.

I have tried this numerous times and it only works temporarily. My documents are just text with minimal formatting, but are very large (up to 700 pages) so I cut them into segments and save as new, smaller files. This also only helped temporarily, also. The problem seems to relate to the amount of time spent on the document, because it happened yesterday with a 15 page doc. after about 30 minutes.

I've also tried 'repairing' Office 365 numerous times, same result. I feel this problem may be systemic, but I can figure out why or how to remedy it.

HI, I have this problém only in Web view layout (this control is in the right bottom corner), that I use to fit more text on one page. after I change to Print layout, it disappears. so that is a possible workaround for you.
