Just because you assert that the "FIX does not require any preparation whatsoever to deploy." does NOT mean that an IT department would not be deferring the roll-out of any modification to the software, be it a fix or update or whatever.
Deferring the roll-out of updates is a policy decision and the use of the word "prepare" may have been a bad choice. The purpose of deferring the roll-out of updates is usually to give the IT department the opportunity to confirm that the update does not
break something else.
Unfortunately, there have been many recent updates that have done just that. For example the 16.0.7369.#### updates have screwed up the rendering of UserForms.
For that, Microsoft can be blamed. However they cannot be blamed for the policy decisions of IT departments, other than for the fact that those departments have been given cause to implement a policy of deferring updates.
I believe that you should, in the instance, retract your last sentence.
I will not retract any part of my previous post. I understand policy decisions and the reasons of IT departments and have been a part of/made such decisions. As I said in my post, I have worked in many IT departments, have worked with computers
since the '70s, and it was my profession before I retired and went back to school. Microsoft can be blamed for
all of this mess; as many others have said, this "update" - FIX - would not have been necessary if they hadn't removed it in the first place.
Furthermore, I did contact the IT department of my university, as directed by Microsoft, and was told that they did
not request the "deferred channel," "we do not defer the application of updates," they are "already set to the fastest delivery of new feather updates,"
they are "not aware of anything they can do to speed that up," and "what is available is entirely managed by Microsoft themselves." I have read on this forum that others have also contacted their IT departments only to be told similar
things and that it is "news to them" about their having control over this fix.
Bottom line, Nicole and Microsoft are BS'ing and continuing to screw their faithful customers (I was using their products when they were still MS/DOS.) And for the record - I do know how to manually update my product and have done so on a weekly basis.
I am still getting the LIE "You're up to date! The latest version of Office is installed on your computer." Build
16.0.6965.2105 is not the "latest version"! They've even programmed their lies into their product!
