Phantom Drop down boxes in excel 2016

I use lots of data validation drop down list and recently some phantom boxes have been appearing in my spreadsheets.  You can select the grey arrow but the list is empty.  You then select the cell to get the correct data validation list, which appears to overlay the the box.  Can anyone help?  I created a new spreadsheet from scratch and it appeared to have fixed it but today i opened the spreadsheet and once again i have phantom drop down lists!!!

I removed all the data validation from the cell and it still remained!

Can anyone help?

    Hello Thao,

      No trying to be rude with you personally by any means, but,

      Unfortunately your answer is very confusing, first of all, according to user P-ER-Amstrong's post on June-11 the patch has been already released.. so are you saying that it is not true?

     Second, you are mentioning that the patch will be released in the build 6868.xxxx , having in mind that the most updated version that we have is the 16.0.6741.2048 that means that we will have to wait for an unknown/uncertain number of builds before the solution?... how many?... or better yet WHEN (date) the build that you are mentioning will reach us the users?

      And last, what exactly means "Insider build" and "non-Insider" ?, I'm sure that for the majority of the regular users that sound only like gibberish that don't contribute to clarify anything, so please clarify in non-technical language.

      The main point here to be clear is the WHEN (date) the patch will be released, any other esoterically number is just that...a number without any meaning.

    My apologies. I forgot that I had signed up to be a Microsoft Insider and that I could potentially receive bug fixes sooner than most people. However, my understanding, at the time, from Microsoft was that the bug fix went to everyone. It could well be that it did indeed just go to Microsoft Insiders for a brief test period. And if that is indeed the case, give it a couple more weeks and the bug patch will roll out to everyone. If it has not already.

    Hello Thao,

    Now it is more than a month from your answer and I (no Microsoft Insider) still have these awful phantom drop down boxes. Thao Moua wrote we have to wait for build 6868.xxxx. My Excel 2016 has meanwhile version 16.0.7070.2036. It's really awkward if you produce an Excel workbook for a customer and can't get rid of such ragged elements in the sheets which let you look like a dilletant. So PLEASE publish your patch for everybody as soon as possible. (By the way, I have a German version. I hope that makes no difference for that problem.)

    Harald,

     FWUser here, couple weeks after my last post on July 06 I got an update that fixed the issue for me, I have the O365 Subscription English version 16.0.6741.2056 right now and no phantom drop boxes at all.  So seems that could be an issue with the German version too.

    Hope the MS people could answer this

    Let me amend: Although I had activated the automatic update I just started an update manually. Now I got Excel version 16.0.7167.2040 and still there are the phantom drop down boxes.
