Hi Guys, just to let you know that the final version of Office does not work properly and have 70-100% CPU issue as reported on numerous posts here. In my case, it's the WORD with which I have the issue with and no remedies posted here help. Please provide the fix as soon as possible, because this bug renders the new suite useless...

In any Office application go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates to launch the Auto Update app. Let AutoUpdate install the updates and then restart your Mac.

I'm having the same issue on the same software versions.
It's a large document ~130 pages with a lot of tables. Typing and scrolling are both laggy and I'm frequently getting SBBOD when I change a style (e.g. set a highlighted section of text to bold takes ~5 secs).
CPU usage is <1% when Word is in the background, but bring it to the front and CPU is >50%. It jumps to 80-110% when typing or making changes.
I have the latest Word for Windows in a VM with a fraction of the resources allocated and am not seeing the same issues with this document.
Changing to Draft view has sped up scrolling and improved typing lag somewhat, but the high CPU usage remains.
UPDATE: updating to the latest fast preview (15.31 161227) has fixed the lagginess, but still experiencing 40-50% CPU when typing. At least it's now usable.
Try a Safe Boot, which only loads known and official software into OS X. Perhaps it's some kind of interference with another piece of software:
Starting up this way will take longer than usual, as you Mac has to sort through fonts, extensions, add-ins, demons and stuff.

Oh, you can flat-line the CPU with a ONE LINE document if there is something wrong with the document :-)
The size of a Word document has little to do with any problems, the complexity of the document is the key. Can you tell us what is in the document? Be suspicious of things like text boxes, tables, tracked changes, comments. These can get mutilated, particularly if the document was not created in .docx and cause all manner of problems.
In your case, my first suspicion would be the Spelling and Grammar checker. Turn OFF spelling and grammar, and see if that makes any difference.
Go to Word>Preferences>Spelling and Grammar and turn OFF "Check spelling while you type", "Check grammar while you type" and "Check grammar with spelling". Save, Close, and Quit Word.
Has anything changed?
If so: select some text, and go to Tools>Language>Set Language and tell us which language is highlighted. Try this several times, because a document usually has more than one spelling language in it.
Tell us which languages you find: some languages have a few issues like this: European languages come to mind.
Basically, the Spelling and Grammar engine is one of the few components of Word that can peg the CPU without crashing the app. Lotsa tracked changes can do it. Corrupted graphics maybe. But a problematic spelling language is the most likely.
