Hi Jim,
thanks for a fast response.
Word version is 15.29.1 (161215) installed within last 48 hours
OsX version is 10.12.2 installed today.
I have 16Go of Ram on a Mac Pro retina with an i5 cpu @ 2.7 Ghz. The size of the file I'm editing in Word is 1.2 Meg.
Problem began within last 48 hours, after updates first to office365 package, then to OSX.
I have deactivated the spell-checking as I type option. This did not make any difference to the CPU saturation symptoms (% of CPU for Word use quickly (like in seconds) ramping up to 100% according to the activity monitor for just about any operation performed
in word). No other significant CPU use by any other application running at the same time as Word. Then shutdown Word and reopened. No difference. Shutdown the computer (full shutdown, restart) made no difference.
I restarted in safe mode, and this appeared to restabilise Word, same data file, same editing activity. Back to normal Word behaviour. And then back to normal mode where Word again "misbehaves", as before.
I am currently playing with removing apps that startup at login, to see if i can find which, if any, impacts Word. Will let you know what I find.
regards,
Richard
