I have MS office 2013 email attachments when being opened are displaying "Microsoft word protect view has stopped working" (same for excel) and closes the document. Any clues

Hi everyone!
The updated driver is now available via Windows Update as well. If you happened to disable hardware acceleration as a workaround before the driver was available, you should re-enable it to avoid potential performance issues. More info here on how to do that.

Agreed. Problem solved by DisplayLink update.
I received a notification email from DisplayLink support today that the updated driver (v7.9 M4) has been released that fixes the Office protected view issue:

I am happy to report that after installing the driver update and unchecking the "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" checkbox in Word's Advanced options menu that file previews again work as expected within Outlook.
